Hope?

Thanks for the thoughtful comments after my awful day, it really means a lot to me.

After leaving work early Thursday I came home, put my feet up, and drank lots of water like my nurse had instructed.  Guillermo made us dinner and we watched a movie.  The bleeding got lighter and lighter as the day went on.

Friday Guillermo had to work before me and as he left made me promise I would call in sick to work if there was any blood.  Everything was clear so I headed to work.  I had my blood work done for Estrogen and Progesterone levels and they both came back just fine.  The nurse told me it was a really good sign that the bleeding stopped.  She said usually if it was a miscarriage it would have gotten much worse throughout the day but I still won’t know anything for sure until the first ultrasound.  I didn’t ask her about getting another BETA check, I’m just going to hope for the best.

I’ve been reading a lot on the internet and it sounds like bleeding does happen in the first trimester for about 30 percent of all women and about half of those women have miscarriages and the other half go on to have a regular pregnancy.  I’m just going to try not to worry too much for the next 8 days until the ultrasound.  There isn’t anything I can do to change what already happened either way.  It helps that I haven’t had any bleeding or spotting at all since Thursday night.

It has been a wonderful weekend.  Guillermo and I kept up the tradition we’ve done for years of cutting down our Christmas tree from the National Forest. We found a beautiful blue spruce and were lucky because the weather was sunny and not too cold.  Last night we went to a party at our friends house.  I feel like we’ve been really antisocial over the last few weeks with the FET, Guillermo’s surgery, and Thanksgiving so it was nice to catch up with everyone.  The party was just down the street from our house so I showed up with an open beer (a dark beer bottle that I had rinsed out and filled with water) and it worked really good.  No one ever asked me if I wanted a drink so I didn’t have to explain anything.

Next week will be busy at work so hopefully it goes by really fast.

  1. Glad everything came back good. Hopefully that will ease your mind, even if not much. Still take it easy and try your best not to over exert yourself…. 🙂
